Temple played college basketball for Louisiana State University from 2005 until 2009. In his sophomore season, Temple finished the year with 138 assists and 83 turnovers, a 1.7 assist/turnover ratio, which was 10th best in the SEC. He was part of the Reach USA Tour of China, an all-star team of players that went 6-2 against two Chinese league teams. During his senior season, Temple became LSU’s all-time leader in minutes played (4,432), breaking a record set by Howard Carter in 1983. He also earned All-SEC Defensive team honors and was named to the coaches’ All-SEC second team.
After going undrafted in the 2009 NBA draft, Temple played on various teams on short-term contracts for most of the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In 2011, Temple signed a one-year deal with Novipiù Casale Monferrato of Italy. In 2012, he returned to the NBA and played for the Washington Wizards (2012 – 2016), the Sacramento Kings (2016 – 2018) and the Memphis Grizzlies and LA Clippers (2019). In July 2019, Temple joined the Brooklyn Nets.
